Ngala Kwop Biddi means Building a Brighter Future Together in the language of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation, who are the Traditional Owners of the land and its waters that Murdoch University stands on in Perth, Western Australia. As part of Murdoch鈥檚 contribution to the process of reconciliation and the preservation and promotion of Indigenous languages, we consult Traditional Owners on naming significant new aspects of the University. Using Ngala Kwop Biddi acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we live, work and learn on, and illustrates the custodianship that First Nations peoples have had over the Australian continent for tens of thousands of years. It鈥檚 part of our ongoing endeavour to incorporate Indigenous Knowledges into daily use and practice across the University.
